My first business organisation would be if information technology sabbatum exterior long enough to blot lawn treatments, pesticide, etc (you said it has dirt and leaves on/in information technology, it may have sat on the footing). If not, I would clean information technology with bleach, rinse it, and let it sit outside until it doesn't scent like bleach. Then you could use it. A lot of folks with fish only tanks use coral skeletons for ornament.

I would dear to put information technology in my sump. It has lots of expanse and would make a bully live rock some day not to mention the fact it is made out of pure calcium LOL.

Boil information technology, boil information technology again and exit information technology soaked in fresh water for a few days I would say. In that location is a gamble it could have saturday somewhere dingy, but maybe it's safety. Ask your friend where did he get information technology from....or where it was kept at...
BTW, Not bad tabular array material underneath it...Go GATORS!!

When I had fish only tanks with wet/dry filters, I used the coral skeletons like that for decorations. I had ii complete sets.
When one set would outset getting algae growing on information technology I would remove it and soak it in a bleach/h2o solution overnight.
And then soak it in a freshwater with 4x- 5x the recommended dose of a decholinator.
Allow information technology dry for a few days and was ready for its turn in the tank.

This is exactly what I would practice. If you go the bleach route, do not forget to use a dechlorinator. If it still smells like bleach, soak it again in h2o with a dechlorinator until there is no bleach smell.

Ha! For me it would exist depressing to see a dead coral in my tank, considering we are always trying to keep corals alive in our tanks it would feel wrong to put a dead one in my display! But hey- to each his own!

I would'nt put it in my DT personally, iv had peices like that, youl finish up with them covered in hair algae or some other form, and none of your CuC or grazing fish volition exist able to clean it completely, information technology will exist more than of a hastle, IMO y'all should just grow a birdsnest like that, it volition wait better, not have algae of over it, and be alot less maintnence. Honestly is information technology worth taking out and cleaning every other calendar week?

I feel similar yous shouldnt remove whatsoever of your aquascaping to clean, it should all be easily accessable for grazers, and CuC to make clean/ feed off of. A Peice like that volition simply crusade trouble in the long run.

Very nice.
Just I would take to agree to not use information technology in your tank.
IMO would only use the coral skeleton every bit a decoration in a fish but tank without live rock.
